You see, bacteria gets transferred to the toilet brush as you clean the loo, and if you don’t clean that off, you’re risking turning the brush holder into a health hazard, according to hygiene expert Stephanie from Expert Home Tips.
Stephanie tells The Sun that germs in your toilet and on your toilet brush can multiply if left to their own devices.
"In order to minimise this risk, the toilet brush should be bleached after use to kill germs," she says.
You can do this by spraying it with bleach or a disinfectant spray after each use.
Meanwhile, Esther Gantus from A Woman's Touch recommends regularly soaking your toilet brush in disinfectant for a few hours or overnight.
Step one: Fill your bucket with hot water.
Step two: Wearing rubber gloves, pour a small amount of bleach into the bucket according to the directions on the bottle.
Step three: Add your toilet brush to the bucket and leave it to soak for at least an hour.
Step four: Rinse the brush under hot water and leave on an old towel to dry. Meanwhile, clean the toilet brush holder by spraying it with bleach or disinfectant spray. Tip out any remaining liquid into the toilet bowl.
Step five: Return to the toilet brush to its now clean toilet brush holder.

I put stuff in the bowl to soak (cheap dishwasher powder is good) and stick the brush head in as well. Clean the toilet then hold the brush head under the flow of the flush. Pretty simple really.
